Afzal-ul-Ulama Preliminary – Year 1 | Part I Arabic

Grammar & Morphology (النحو والصرف) is a foundational course designed to introduce learners to the essential rules of Arabic sentence structure, verb patterns, noun forms, and grammatical analysis.
The course focuses on the basics of Arabic grammar through the celebrated textbook النحو الواضح, along with selected lessons from الميزان, enabling learners to understand the function of words, build correct sentences, and analyze grammatical constructions.

This paper is core to the Afzal-ul-Ulama Preliminary Programme, equipping students with the linguistic tools required for advanced Arabic studies.

What Will You Learn?

  • Understand the basic structure of Arabic sentences (nominal & verbal).
  • Master verb conjugation, tenses, and grammatical cases (رفع، نصب، جزم).
  • Analyze nouns, verbs, and particles using proper iʿrāb (الإعراب).
  • Apply morphology rules (الصرف) including measure patterns, derivatives, and verb forms.
  • Build grammatically correct Arabic sentences with improved accuracy and fluency.

Unit 1 – Fundamentals of Grammar (النحو الواضح)

Unit 2 – Verb Conjugation & Cases
نصب الفعل المضارع، جزم الفعل المضارع أفعال كان وأخواتها، إنَّ وأخواتها فاعل، نائب فاعل، إعراب الاسم والفعل

Unit 3
تقسيم الفعل إلى صحيح ومعتل الفعل اللازم والمتعدي أحوال بناء الفعل الماضي والمضارع

Unit 5 – Advanced Morphology (الميزان)
