Course Content

Block 1: The Art of Translation
Unit 1: Source Language and the Target Language – Understanding relationships and dynamics between Arabic and English. Unit 2: Salient Features of Arabic and English Languages – Structural, syntactic, and cultural differences. Unit 3: Problems of Arabic-English Bilingual Translation – Common challenges and strategies to overcome them.

Block 2: Translation Practice
Unit 1: Media and Journalistic Translation Media terminology, journalistic vocabulary and style. Translation of news headlines, reports, commercial and business advertisements, classifieds, and captions. Unit 2: Documents and Manuals Translation of official and professional texts such as visas, ID cards, driving licenses, certificates, mark lists, tenders, quotations, and diplomatic texts. Handling insurance documents, legal and commercial texts, company publications, product descriptions, and manuals. Translating brochures, warranty cards, and electronic/manuals-related documents.
